Frequently asked Questions regarding The Sun News
Q: Is the electronic edition available for the iPad? A: Currently, the technology used in reading the paper online is not supported by the iPad. We are working towards developing an App for use with the iPad, but it is not available at this time.
Q: What is the cost of the electronic edition subscription?A: The current price is $6.00 for four weeks, or $72 for 52 weeks. This is about one third the cost of the full print subscription rate. The charges are an automatic recurring bill to your credit card monthly or yearly unless you call us to cancel.
Q: When I try to log in, I am simply returned to the login page with no error message. Why is this happening?A: The most likely explanation is that you're running a personal firewall such as Zone Alarm Pro or McAfee. If that is the case, you'll need to add our IPs to your "Trusted Zones" area. Also, make sure to have cookies enabled on your browser settings.
Q: When I call up a story in the clickable paper, what are my viewing options?A: Click on View in the story window. "Newspaper View" displays the story just as it appears in the newspaper, with columns and photos in place. "Quick View" is a text view of the story and photos. You can email or print the story in either mode. Just use the icons at the top of the story for print or email. NOTE: Some articles and entities (such as ads) will not have "Quick View" or "Text View" available.
Q: When I've clicked on a story, how can I make the story window larger? A: Just drag the triangle in the bottom right-hand corner of the story window. You control how much larger to make the window. NOTE: In some instances, you will not be able to maximize the window to full screen size, but you should be able to get close.
Q: Where are previous issues? A: Move your mouse over the date at the top of the daily edition for the most recent seven days, on average.
Q: I'm on AOL. Why am I having difficulties viewing the electronic edition? A: Due to a browser limitation, AOL users must initialize the browser window first before starting to navigate the clickable edition. To initialize the browser window, simply resize the browser window once. NOTE: Some versions of the AOL browser will not display the electronic edition. If you are able to log in but pages won't load, please try this corrective action: Dial in to the Internet as usual using your AOL connection. Then close the AOL browser and open your default Internet Explorer browser (or Firefox, if you prefer it).
Q: Does the download take a long time? A: On broadband connection, the download for an entire edition typically takes about 10 minutes. On a dialup connection it could be as long as 45 minutes. NOTE: Some edition dates, such as Sundays, are much larger, and will therefore take longer to download.
Q: I can't see the whole page on my screen. What do I do? A: If you cannot view the entire width of the page, find a scroll bar along the bottom edge of your Web page. You can scroll right or left to view more of the page. You can also navigate up and down using the scroll bar on the right edge.
